If Rosie could be a tree or plant, what would she be and why?
An African Boabab (Boab) tree, which grows in Africa and Madagascar. When hollowed out, the massive-trunked tree, which can grow up to 25 metres tall, has been used as a shelter, home, farm shed, jail, and even a hiding place, holding up to 40 people inside of it. Also seen as a life-saver, the Boabab can store up to 100,000 litres of water in its trunk. The tree is versatile and may look a bit funny like an upside-down tree, but it stands strong in extreme weather conditions. Its fruit and seeds can be eaten and big white flowers bloom all through its root-like canopy at night. Don’t judge a tree by its bark, as they say!
